Dear Student,

Welcome to Room 121! I am so excited to be your teacher this year! We are going to have a great time learning and working together. Well, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am married and my husband’s name is David. We have two pets, a black lab named Maverick, and K.C. the cat. I love to watch movies and play outdoors. I like to go camping, fishing, swimming, and much more! I love to listen to music and sit down and enjoy a good book.

Fifth graders learn a lot of new and exciting things. You’ll get better and better in math and reading. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite books during story time. In writing, you will write many stories using ideas and subjects you are interested in. You will improve your cursive handwriting. You will read and learn about current events that shape our world. You’ll get to do book reports on your favorite books and in science we will be doing fun and interesting experiments.

I hope this is a special year for you. Please talk to me when you have something to share, when you don’t understand, or when you are upset. I will do my best to listen carefully. Fifth grade is an exciting time and shouldn’t be scary at all!

I hope you had a very nice summer. I am so glad to have you in my class this year! Get ready to learn a lot of exciting things this year because in fifth grade we reach for the stars!!!
