Numerous local companies recognize volunteer time through the donation of cash grants to non-profits in which their employees volunteer. This means that for each hour of your volunteer time, your employer may donate money to Thoreau PTA.   Listed below are companies who participate in this type of program.

Employee Giving Campaign

Through last year's Employee Giving Campaign, Microsoft employee donations and the corporate match totaled more than $39.2 million in cash.

Volunteerism (Microsoft, cont’d)

To help Microsoft employees connect to their local communities, find volunteer opportunities, and register volunteer hours for a cash match, we created Microsoft Volunteer Connection, a volunteer matching system available to and accessible by Microsoft employees.

Volunteer Connection helps employees find volunteer opportunities that best match their interests, skills, and availability.

In addition to matching employee financial donations up to $12,000 per year per employee, Microsoft will now match time that our employees volunteer in the community, donating $17 per hour to the eligible organizations they serve. We're excited that this benefit will recognize all of our employees who are volunteering, as well as supporting the community financially.

·                     This benefit began October 3, 2005.

·                     Employees must volunteer 10 hours with a single organization before they can apply for a match. After the initial 10 hours, they can request a cash match in 1-hour increments.

·                     The organizations that are eligible for this new volunteer time matching program are the same as those we support through our Employee Giving programs: 501(c)3 nonprofit agencies and educational institutions across the United States.

It is our hope that Microsoft's new employee benefit will have a great impact in our community, supporting our employees in their gifts of time as well as money for the organizations they serve.
