The Library grade is based onEffort, which includes:

o         Using the information resources in the Library

o         Active participation during class

o         Checking out books and returning them on time

o         Reading

o         Responsibility for taking care of materials and returning them on time

o         Written assignments or performance of library skills during class time.

Thoreau School Rules

o         Respect yourself

o         Respect your school’s purpose

Third grade        3 books

Fourth grade      4 books

Fifth grade         5 books

Sixth grade        6 books

o         Students in first, second and third grades may keep their books for one week. Fourth, fifth and sixth grades may keep their books for two weeks.

o         There are no fines for having an overdue book but the student cannot check out any new materials until the overdue items are returned or paid for.

o         When a student checks out a book, it is their responsibility to return the book in good condition. Fines will be charged to replace lost and damaged books.

o         Paid fines will be refunded if the lost books are found and returned before the last day of school in June.
