September 2, 2005September 9 Ice Cream Social and Information Night 6:30pm-8:30pm 15 Curriculum Night for Intermediate Grades, 6:30pm 22 Curriculum
Night for Primary Grades, 6:30pm 29 Curriculum Night for Kindergarten, 6:30pm PRINCIPAL’S PERSPECTIVE Yahoo!!! The 2005-2006 school year is off and running. As we have begun classes this year, your patience has been greatly appreciated as we work to finalize class lists and adjust to a new schedule. It is truly delightful to see the faces of our students as they meet new teachers and make new friends. On behalf of the staff I’d like to welcome all of our new families to the Thoreau Community and welcome back our returning families. Be sure to read through the first day packets and see how you can become involved at school. Curriculum Nights will be held in September. Look under the calendar section of the Frog News to find out which nights and at what time. This is a great way to find out what your student will be learning throughout the year. We look forward to a fantastic year! New Daily Schedule Thoreau Elementary will start at 9:00am and end at 3:30pm. for the upcoming school year. The first bell will sound at 8:55am. LUNCH MONEY It is greatly appreciated when you are able to have lunch money in your child’s lunch account. Please do not let their account have a minus balance. It takes a lot of your child’s time and staff time to catch up once an account hits a minus balance. Thank you for your help! |

Schools.lwsd.org/Thoreau. It has everything you need to know about Thoreau on
it!! Thanks to Look
for the directory form in the 1st day packet and fill out right
away! This information needs to be turned in by Sept. 20 if you want to
be included in the directory. This is a very useful booklet provided by the
PTA and available to all students at Thoreau. Business advertisements in the
directory were a success last year and we are happy to offer this again. It
is $35.00 for a business card sized ad. This is tax deductible and the money
will support student enrichment programs. Please contact Shelly at shellybalice@verizon.net,
or call her at #823-3839 if interested. It’s a new year and we are looking for
parents to be art docents! I know many of you are closet artists and would love to help in your
child’s classroom. There is a
curriculum that Thoreau is using from the district, so things are set up. We will also meet and talk as a group and
share things we learned last year and note any changes we want to make this
year. If you are interested in being a docent, please let your child’s
teacher know or email me at slg.morris2@verizon.net -Suzanne Morris |
