Did you know that chess makes kids smart? National studies reveal that children who participate in long-term structured chess activities, such as Chess Club, increase their overall academic performance, especially in reading, math and science.
Thoreau’s Chess Club a fun way to improve math and thinking skills. All levels of players are welcome!
Parents are encouraged to come and assist. The 2004-5 school year was the first year for our chess club, which hit the ground running with 28 students on our team!
