Book Adventure is an online program that encourages students to read. Students choose a book from the list, and after reading it they answer questions to show their knowledge of the content of the story. Each book is worth a certain amount of points. Points accumulated can be traded in for prizes!

Book Adventure has a website. This means that students can read and take the ‘tests’ at their convenience, from home or school. They can also access the lists of books available (most of their favorites will be there!) and have a few ideas before going to the library, for example. Each student has his or her own user name and password, which are assigned to him or her at school with the help of their teacher. Book Adventure may be integrated into the curriculum and required for some classes, while in others it may not.
With the onset of the program, a parent volunteer will calculate points earned since the beginning of the school year for each child and award prizes. After this, the points are tallied monthly, and prizes distributed shortly after. If a student reads a book following the current year’s theme, they get extra points!
