Annual Awards
Golden Acorn Award
Each year the Rose Hill Elementary PTSA gives the Golden Acorn Award to a person or people who have given exemplary volunteer service to all children in our school community. This special award is given for continued and dedicated service. This is an excellent way to acknowledge a PTSA member for his or her contribution to the students and the school. This award also supports the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation. A donation is made in the recipient's name to the fund which in turn contributes to the future of youth by awarding $1,000.00 or $2,000.00 grants to high school graduates entering their freshmen year at a college, university or vocational school.
We invite you to participate in the selection of our Golden Acorn Award recipient during the spring of each year. This is your opportunity to nominate a PTSA member (which could be a teacher, staff member, parent or other member of our community) who has served our children well. When considering a volunteer, please keep in mind the amount of time and level of commitment given as well as their record of continued service as a PTSA member. Include with your recommendation specific information about why you feel the nominee's achievements qualify them for this award. Click here to download a nomination form.
The recipient of this award has his or her name added to the Golden Acorn Award Plaque, which is displayed in the alcove in the main hallway across from our beautiful mosaic art piece. Recipients since 1993 include:

The Edith Binder Award
The Edith Binder Award was retired in the spring of 2007 and is therefore no longer issued. However, we continue to honor those who were recognized with this award over its thirteen year tenure. Edith Binder was a teacher at Rose Hill Elementary from 1972 - 1977 who spent countless hours beyond the normal school day assisting students at our school. She was a beloved person who walked the extra mile because she loved children.
