Information for sophomores
The National Honor Society rules stipulate that incoming sophomores wait one semester before applying and being inducted. Therefore, students do not need to apply during first semester of their sophomore year.
Instead, sophomores need to focus on achieving a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA (9th grade plus 1st semester of 10th) and fulfilling the NHS goals of "Character," "Service," and "Leadership" through participation in extra-curricular activities and community service. For service, students should keep track of all community service they have done the previous summer and during first semester; these will be recorded on the application that becomes available in mid-February. Applications are due the first Thursday of March!
