Mr. Whalen was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Wayne
State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973.
He then after moving to Seattle graduated from The University of Washington
with a Masters in Education in 1980. His teaching career includes
working for the Detroit School District, an alternative high school program in
Wenatchee, a work study program for high school students in Seattle and for
the Lake Washington School District since 1979. C
