The Seattle area has a rich artistic tradition and offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities. The Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Pacific Northwest Ballet are among the largest artistic organizations in the region. Seattle has about 25 professional theater companies, more than any U.S. city except New York City and Chicago. The Seattle Art Museum divides its collection between two buildings.
