Junior High School Required Courses
The standardized high school transcript is based on a grading system that reports the grades earned by students in courses as follows.
No grades of A+, A- or D- will be earned. The minimal passing grade is a D.
To compute the GPA (grade point average) for any selected group of courses, assign a point value to each grade earned, based on the scale above. Take the sum of the point values and divide by the number of courses attempted. (This formula is appropriate when all courses attempted are equal credit value). Carry the value to the hundredths.
| Courses Attempted | Grade | Point Value |
| Language Arts 9 Geography Algebra Science 9 Keyboarding Phys. Ed. 9 |
C+ B- B F A B |
2.3 2.7 3.0 0.0 4.0 3.0 15.0 |
GPA = 15.0 divided by 6= 2.50. This student has a 2.50 grade point average.
