All about Ms. Clark |
|
Hello! My name is Amanda Clark and this is my tenth year teaching in
the Lake Washington School District. Seven years ago I returned to Redmond Elementary
after being gone for two years, and have taught first, second, and third
grade! There
is just something about the staff and students at this school that make
people want to be a part of what is happening here. So, I came back
as soon as I could!
Before becoming a teacher, I grew up in Seattle and attended Roosevelt High School. Go Roughriders! I was a cheerleader and was very involved in the drama program, performing in many plays and musicals. After graduating high school, I went to Central Washington University to get my degree in Elementary Education. Go Wildcats! I majored in Elementary Ed. and received two minors; one in Special Education and the other in Early Childhood Education. In July 2004, I completed my Master's in Education with an emphasis in Reading and Literacy. I am excited to use what I learned and find new ways to teach my current and future students. I did my student teaching in Seattle Public Schools in Third Grade. After completing that, I was a substitute for a few months and then landed a job in a Special Education resource room in a K-8 alternative school in Seattle for the remainder of the school year. Then, at the end of the summer, I was hired into the Lake Washington School District. I got a position at Redmond El. and taught there for one year. I was then moved to another elementary school where I taught First Grade for two years. But, each year, I tried to transfer back to Redmond El. and I was fortunate enough that it happened! So, here I am!!! When I am not teaching I like to spend time with my niece Kaylee and my leading man, my Dalmatian, Bailey. They both keep me fairly busy. I also like to tap dance and sing. In the winter months, I like to snowboard and cross-country ski. In the summer, I worship the sun and spend most of my time outside doing anything and everything fun! Well, that's me in a nutshell! I absolutely love teaching and know it was what I was meant to do with my life. It is so exciting to have a part in the education of a child. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with yours! Don't forget to drop in and say "Hi" sometime! See you soon! ;)
