Hello, my name is Douglas Allen and welcome to my 4th grade class website. I have been teaching at Redmond Elementary for 7 years (5 at 3rd, 1 at 3rd/4th, and 1 at 4th). I have also taught 6th at another school in the Lake Washington School District. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University, as well as my Teaching Certificate. I have continued my education over the past 5 years through the participation in a Mathematical Leadership grant from the National Science Foundation. This grant involved working with other teachers from several of the surrounding districts, as well as the University of Washington. I am currently working on my Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology.

I love the outdoors and traveling. I try to go some place new each summer. I have traveled all over the United States and Canada. This summer I spent 26 days in Peru. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back. Throughout the year I will be displaying pictures of my trip and sharing some of my experiences. I also try to hike and camp as much as I can.
