Battle of the
Books is a nation-wide reading incentive program
designed to encourage students to read quality literature. Participation is
voluntary for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Students form their own teams of four,
then compete as teams to answer questions from 15 books selected from award
winning literature.
Battle of the Books is supported by the school library and librarian. The
competition happens at lunch recess during the month of March. Muir's Battle
Team is selected by a tournament style competition. Muir's team will complete
with other LWSD elementary schools with the librarian moderating via the
Internet.
Battle Books can be checked out in the Muir Library as well as the Kingsgate
public library.
