Welcome to Christa McAuliffe Elementary School!

The school mission of Christa McAuliffe is to continuously provide quality education that prepares all learners to reach their fullest potential in an ever changing world.  The McAuliffe staff is proud of the growth students continue to make in all academic areas.  Looking at the trend data from the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL), it is evident that the efforts students and staff are making, support the growth in overall academic achievement.  We will continue to focus on improving student success in all areas with a major focus in reading, writing, and mathematics. 

Research in the area of education has found that high-performing schools have a number of common characteristics.  Those characteristics include the following:

When we evaluate this list it is evident that we are certainly focusing our time and effort in the right direction.  McAuliffe has a clear vision and mission that has been developed by the entire community of students, staff, and parents.  This will continue to help guide us in our daily, weekly, and yearly planning.  Students, staff, and parents have high expectations not only about academic progress but there is an additional emphasis on looking at students’ social, emotional, and physical growth.  We strive to make Christa McAuliffe a friendly, caring, and supportive school where children feel challenged, safe, and cared for by both the school staff and the community.  With the addition of our early release Wednesdays, we now have additional opportunities to collaborate with content teams, grade level teams, and with neighboring schools.  This collaboration focuses on keeping up to date on best practices as it relates to instruction, assessment, and learning.  There are numerous opportunities for staff members to continue to grow and learn not only here at McAuliffe but also with district support in the form of mentoring and Professional Growth classes.  Our school leadership team develops a yearly plan for school improvement.  This plan involves all aspects of the school with a large emphasis given to academic improvement.  Finally, we are very lucky to have such a dedicated PTSA to support our students.  The PTSA has their own link on this website that is a must see!
