We share many wonderful stories in Primary LRC (this includes Kindergarten through Second Grade) but we also work on many library skills. We are learning how to check materials in and out of the library and how to return them to their proper place if we are just looking. We learn about the parts of a book; spine, call number, cover, back, date due slip and much more. We talk about the people who help make a book; author, illustrator and publisher.
I would like to share some titles that you and your child might enjoy reading together. Hopefully, they will remember hearing them in LRC. During your reading time, you might like to ask your child some questions about the story. It can be fun to figure out what the story is about by looking at the details on the cover. If your child has picked the story out because they have heard it already, see what they can remember about it before you read it together. How much did they remember? As you read through the story together, try to ask questions that will make your child think about what will happen next .
MOST
IMPORTANTLY, enjoy reading
together!
