Back to home

I was raised in Kirkland, Washington and graduated from Lake Washington High School. I went on to Washington State University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Several years ago I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. After substitute teaching for two years I was hired into the district, and aside from one year spent in Texas, I have been teaching in the LWSD for my entire career. I began teaching first grade, and since then have managed to teach every grade except sixth... I'll leave that to the pros. Aside from Lakeview Elementary, all my years in the district have been spent at Alcott Elementary in Redmond, WA.

I have a six year old son, Liam, who fills my days with joy and excitement, and I can't imagine life without him. I feel very fortunate to be able to raise my son in such a great community as Kirkland, surrounded by so many great opportunities.  Outside of school, I love spending time with friends and family traveling, going to movies, reading and enjoying life!

I feel fortunate to have taught so many different grade levels, as I have a great sense of where students are coming from, what their experiences have been, and what I need to do to prepare them for the future. More than anything, my goal is to give my students a safe, positive environment where they feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. I strongly emphasize organization as I feel that it is the key to success in school and in life. I hope my students leave my class with a strong sense of preparedness, knowing how to manage their time and materials so they can meet different expectations and demands of the future.
