Throughout
the year students will be engaging in authentic written tasks
for a variety of purposes: story-telling (narratives),
recounts, friendly letters, and science reflections,
story-telling (narratives). Our goal is to help students become
well-organized, powerful, and independent writers able to
communicate their thoughts and ideas in a clear and meaningful
way.
We will help
the children understand and use the Writing Process:
1.
Pre-write:
brainstorm, picture, list, outline
2.
Draft:
sloppy copy with unedited spelling
3.
Revise:
make changes as needed to make their work sound
better
4.
Edit:
correct spelling/punctuation with teacher guidance
5.
Publish:
final copies
