This is our adopted panda who lives at the San Diego Zoo

                     Bai Yun

At 213 pounds, this female is the first Giant Panda born at the Wolong Giant Panda Conservation Center, located in the Sichuan Province in the People's Republic of China.  Raised by her mother, Dong Dong, BAI YUN recently became a mother herself.

Sent to the San Diego Zoo as an ambassador of good will, BAI YUN, whose name means "white cloud" in Chinese, is outgoing, extroverted and investigative.  She's particularly active in the mornings.  One of her favorite things to do is to climb a tree and lounge around in the branches.

Our class has just received our first new newsletter.  It gave us some good general information about pandas. It also chronicled the first year of Hua Mei, the newly born panda at the San Diego Zoo.

Here is a picture of our certificate of adoption.

Here is some information from our spring newsletter.
