Reading Groups

In reading we have four stations that we rotate through.

HeadSprout

HeadSprout is a computer program that teaches letter-sound relationships. It's very high-interest for the kids. It features animation and great characters that the kids love. The kids progress at their own pace through 80 levels.

Book Club

The kids choose books on their own from our class library. They look at them on their own or read with a partner.

Skill Work

The kids practice learning sight words and work with letter-sound relationships.

Reading Group

Students are placed in books at their instructional level based on beginning of the year DIBELS assessments. They receive intensive small-group instruction. Students progress through leveled books when they become proficient. At this point in the year we are in the Read Well series. Later in the year will bring in Scott Foresmen as well as trade books.
