Introduction

I am doing a report on the red crossbill. The red crossbill is a very cool bird. I like it because I like red.

Description

The red crossbill's size is 6 to 8 inches and its wingspan is 10 to 11 inches. Its weight is 0.85 to 1.59 ounces.

The red crossbill is a big, sturdy finch. Its wings are plain and black. The red crossbill’s tail is notched and short. The bill is thick and curved with crossed tips.

The male crossbill is bright red. The female is gray with a little green with some yellow. The chest of the red crossbill is red. And the back of our bird is black. The color of the beak is black.

The male red crossbill is a red and black bird. But the female is a grayish green.

Call or song

The call of the red crossbill is a chipa- chipa- chipa, chee- chee- chee or kip-kip-kip.

Nesting

The eggs are pale blue and green. They lay three to four eggs. The eggs have light brown spots. The nest is in a shallow saucer of bark strips, grass and roots lined with moss and other stuff.

Range

The red crossbill lives from southern Alaska to northern America.

Conclusion

I like this bird because it’s a very rare bird. I hope you like my report.
