The bird I chose is the Anna’s Hummingbird/Calypte Anna. Here are some facts about the bird I chose. Hope you enjoy the report!
It can be three to four inches tall. The wingspan is 12 cm (5 in). This bird is the biggest hummingbird. It is a medium, stocky hummingbird. The male is bigger than the female.
The male has a red gorget (throat) and forehead. The female has a white throat and green forehead with white tips at the end of the tail feathers. The male is a bit larger than the female.

I think their call sounds like a quiet drill, like a bee, or sandpaper on wood in a series. It is uncommon for a hummingbird to have a song.
The nest of the Anna’s Hummingbird is a cup shaped nest placed on a twig. Held up with a spider web covered with dead leaves. The babies that hatch in the nest look like the female. The babies are born in clusters of two. Sometimes the babies are black and have no feathers.
During the winter these birds live down south. If they are found in the north area they stay there all the time. They prefer urban areas in the far west or BC, Mexico in winter and west Texas sometimes. It also lives in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah,
Washington, and British Columbia (resident on Vancouver Island).
