Leaf The texture is soft & smooth. 

                                                         Color is light green

                                                          Edge is smooth

          The leaves of the Pacific dogwood are beautiful. They are oval shaped and they have a pointed tip. The edges are smooth and wavy. In autumn   they become pinkish red. The leaves of the dogwood are three to 5 inches long. The dogwood’s leaves are light green. The leaf texture is soft and smooth. The edge is smooth.

Color, number of petals size and shape

  The dog wood has six white yellowish petals in clusters from 30 to 40 leaves. The size is about 4 to 7 centimeters long. In autumn they become reddish brown or orange.  

 

  

Fruits and seeds

The fruits are dark red, sometimes dark blue. They grow plum type fruits in the fall. The berries are not edible they are poisonous. The seeds  grow inside of the flower. And are about one centimeter big

 

Bark and stem or trunk

The dog wood has very smooth dark brown bark. The twigs curve up and branches in clusters of four. It feels almost like a marble. It really feels good. I really like it.

 

Size and shape

How Small trees, occasionally reaching 60 feet but usually much smaller (20 to 30 feet). Rounded crowns in the open but funny crowns in the understory. Branches spread horizontally and dip between nodes, making pleasing series of arcs in the branches.  That the dogwood’s bark is made for piano keys.

Habitat and range

Where does it like to live. the dog wood lives from Washington to the very tip of the end of California.

It likes barley damp soils a popular tree in mixed forests. It might not make fruit in dense forests.
