Karla Calhoun - 4th grade
About Mrs. Coghlan
Mrs. Coghlan grew up in Montesano, Washington (population 3700) where her parents continue to reside. She attended Grays Harbor Community College – the home of the Chokers - (What in the world are chokers?). She earned her teaching degree at Western Washington University in Bellingham. This is Mrs. Coghlan’s 22nd year of teaching. The first 7 years she taught children with special needs, then kindergarten for 6 years, third grade for 5 years and is now teaching fourth grade for the 4th year and enjoying it immensely. She has been job sharing with Mrs. Adams since 1999. This is Mrs. Coghlan’s twelfth year at Lakeview. She lives in Kirkland with her husband, Jerry, daughter Erin (17) and son Riley (14). As a family they enjoy traveling, reading, running, bicycling, exploring the NW, watching movies and documentaries and especially sitting around talking. When she is not working, she spends much of her time doing the parent thing similar to all of her Lakeview parents. Now that’s self explanatory! Coffee with her sister Cindy and friends is a favorite pastime! As a little girl growing up in a small town, Karla never thought she would live in such a vibrant, suburban city, have opportunities to travel the world (March 2008 we will travel to our 6th continent!) and teach in this wonderful community of wonderful people.
