The First Grade Adjustment

v The adjustment from kindergarten to first grade is perhaps the biggest adjustment our students will make at Peter Kirk.  The long day and increased structured time may make these first few weeks exhausting.

v That’s the bad news.  The good news is we have an incredibly calm and well behaved class.  (At least this week J.)  Classroom behaviors have exceeded my expectations.  In class students have been funny, cooperative and excited.

v Even as our students have been great for me, expect emotional, sensitive, cranky behavior at home these first few weeks.

v Please understand students will not be adjusted to first grade by Monday.  In fact they will be even more exhausted by next FridayIt will take all of September for students to fully adjust.
