Fall 2009 Audition Requirements:
All company members will Audition - everyone who auditions
will be assigned a company position as a crew member, technical director or cast
member!
- Choose a well known Fairy Tale.
- Create a ONE to TWO MINUTE monologue of YOUR ORIGINAL VERSION of the
Fairy Tale that has a clear beginning, middle and end.
- Type the monologue and attach to your Audition Form with a TITLE and the
name of the original Fairy Tale you are re-creating
(due Tuesday,
September 22, At 2:30pm)
INCLUDE in your script STAGE DIRECTIONS and EMOTIONS.
Italicize and place them in parentheses. Remember that the one to two
minutes includes the whole performance, not just when you are
talking!
Example: "WHY does that wicked
witch ALWAYS poison apples?" (Picks up a pear and takes a satisfying bite
out of it, chews thoughtfully for a moment and then realizes what to do)
- Memorize exactly the script of your monologue
- Plan out how you will present your Fairy Tale during the Audition
- You may portray as many characters as is effective - of course we have
to know when you are a different character.
- You may use ONE prop (NO instruments)
- Do NOT wear any costumes
- Do NOT use an accent of any kind
- The idea is that you narrate AND act out your Fairy Tale. I am looking
for clear, strong voices, and confident, well planned movement.
Be self-assured, and have fun! You will be fabulous, and EVERYONE will
grow, connect and be entertained.
DO
Wear comfortable, plain clothes (plain T Shirt, Jeans, flat shoes)
Have your hair pulled back
Bring something to eat and drink (water and a non-messy snack are best)
Focus during the Audition on sending positive energy to others
ASK if you have questions, but don't get caught up in trying to make your
performance 'perfect' or exactly like you think everyone else will do it. These
will be very UNIQUE. Remember that the idea of an audition is to show off you!
