Student Book Reviews

Sixth grade students at Frost wrote the following comments and reviews about their favorite books in Spring 2004.

The Amber Spyglass, by Phillip Pullman

I liked it because it has lots of action and fairytale creatures. I think other people will like it because I have very good taste in books.

Captain Underpants Series, by Dave Pilkey

Dork in Disguise, by Carol Gorman

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul

It has really good stories about teenagers and things that could happen to you. It has things that make you learn and you think that the book understands you because you've been through the same experiences. When you feel lonely you can read it or when you're depressed and it will make you realize that your problems are smaller than the people who live in the streets.

Eragon, by Christopher Paolini

Forest Tales, Book One: The Secret of the Labyrinth, by C. J. Lewis

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by J. K. Rowling

It is full of action and adventure, and it's full of magic with mystical creatures. It gives a good picture and imagination in your mind.

Just as Long as We're Together, by Judy Blume

I could relate to the girls in the book. Also it was very, very good with all of the very different events in the book. I think it's more for girls, but I would suggest it because there are a lot of things to relate to or experience the very entertaining events, and it might send out a good message.

Martin the Warrior, by Brian Jacques

The characters were great and it was an adventure fantasy and action packed. Plus I like medieval things and this book is all about swords and things.

Mossflower, by Brian Jacques

It had characters that were very well matched with the story. The overall plot and story is funny and adventurous.

The Slippery Slope, by Lemony Snicket

It's a mystery book and it makes you feel like you were there. Many awful things happen to the Baudelaires and they always find a way to survive. It's an adventure book and a mystery book. If a reader likes a book with a nasty villain, then this is the book they will want to read!

The Tale of Despereaux, by Kate Dicamillo

This is a fantasy about a mouse that is brave and does very interesting stuff.

The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke

I Liked the story line and the conflict. The are both very complicated and they took awhile to solve. Also the author made parts suspenseful. The characters are mysterious, funny, and aggressive, with each person having their own personality.

Things Not Seen, by Andrew Clements

I really liked the characters, because the book really shows their personalities, and because it is an adventure/mystery. Also, I love the plot because it makes you want to keep reading. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give it a 5. Because I really liked this book, I bet other people will like it too!
