Newbery
Award - an award given by the American
Library Association to the author of the best American children's
book each year. Caldecott Award - an award given by the American Library Association to the illustrator of the best illustrated American picture book. Washington Young Readers' Choice Award - a chapter book award sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Library Association and voted on by students from the Northwestern United States and Western Canada. Sasquatch Award - a chapter book award sponsored by the Washington Library Media Association and voted on by students from the state of Washington. Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award - a picture book award sponsored by the Washington Library Media Association and voted on by K-3 students from the state of Washington. Frost Elementary students, grades 1 - 3 participate in the voting for this award! The books are read to the students during library time and after all of the books have been read, the students vote on their favorite. |

Check out the interactive map of Alagaesia and Christopher's thoughts on writing. Lemony Snickett - if you're a fan of the Series of Unfortunate Events, you will enjoy his "unfortunate" web site. Kay Vandergrift's Page-out of Rutgers University, this is an excellent collection of individual author's sites. KidsClick-an excellent collection of individual author's sites compiled for kids by Librarians. Don't ask me why they alphabetized the authors by their first names, the rebels. Fairossa Cyber Library of Children's Literature-a long time favorite, their collection of author's sites are great and the rest of their site is worth a journey.
