· The 9th grade HIGH SCHOOL Physical Science class is a fun and challenging class with MANY HANDS-0N LABS in most of the units. The concepts, skills and content presented will give you a good grounding for success in other high school science classes, and help you to understand scientific issues that impact you now and in the future.

10 IMPORTANT HIGH SCHOOL STUDY SKILLS
Students should be able to:
1. RECORD YOUR ASSIGNMENTS AND DUE DATES/ HAND IN ASSIGNMENTS TIMELY/ USE THE AGENDA
Neatly, accurately and completely, record homework assignments, important events and meetings in an organized agenda using the resources provided, in a disciplined and consistent manner. (Use the information on our white board and class website). http://schools.lwsd.org/ejh/true/home.htm
HAND IN COMPLETED ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME.
2. STUDY VOCABULARY/ DEFINITIONS
Use reference material and lesson notes to write a definition breakdown for key terms in each unit (and be able to write a detailed, complete sentence definition from this definition breakdown).
3. USE ALL THE TEXT BOOK FEATURES
Be familiar with and know how to use all the features of your science text book.
4. TAKE DOUBLE COLUMN NOTES FROM AN INFORMATIONAL TEXT
Take good detailed notes from your text book and other written reference material using the double column notes format. Format a diverse set of questions from your notes.
5. USE RUBRICS/ REQUIREMENTS LISTS
Use a rubric or requirements list to complete an assignment accurately and completely.
6. USE LEARNING GOAL LISTS
Use learning goal lists or objectives lists to check your degree of mastery of the knowledge and skills during a unit.
7. STUDY / LEARN YOUR NOTES
Develop a study-reading plan. Read, review and recite notes, and question to test for understanding.

Make use of memory strategies when appropriate, like using associations, acronyms, strange sentences, and rhymes or raps.
