"When I'm leading a discussion I can't wait to ask the next question." - Parent volunteer

"The prepared prompts are so good: evaluative, thought provoking, fun!" - 1st grade teacher

"Can we do this again – SOON?"  - 4th grade student

Welcome to Classic Books, a PTSA-sponsored reading enrichment program. The purpose of the program: reading for pure pleasure. No testing, no evaluation – just a joyous approach to children’s literature in which students read a book then discuss it in small, parent-led groups.

Would you like to join us? We’re asking for volunteers at every grade level. A volunteer reads a book, and then leads a discussion among a small group of students during class time. Discussion questions are provided.

Moms and dads who work outside the home find it convenient to volunteer with Classic Books because it’s a one-time-only activity that can be scheduled in advance.

We hope you’ll join us. Please e-mail us with your questions. In advance, thank you. We guarantee you’ll have fun!

For the safety of our children, all new volunteers are screened by the Lake Washington School District. It takes just a few minutes to provide the information needed. Please click here to learn more:
