Roni Hardie, Principal

Mrs. Hardie has a 38 year commitment to public education. She first taught math and physics at Claremont High School in Claremont, California for 14 years. She then served as a Counselor/Attendance Administrator and Assistant Principal in Claremont for four years. She and her family relocated to Redmond, Washington in 1989 when she assumed a position as the Assistant Principal at Juanita High School. When Eastlake High School opened in 1993, she was selected as the Associate Principal. She served in that role until 1999, when she assumed the co-principalship for three years. Currently, Mrs. Hardie is now serving as the Principal at Eastlake High School.

Mrs. Hardie values her 39 year marriage to her best friend, Jerry. They are both very proud of their two daughters, Erin and Alison who serve as a 5th grade teacher and labor and delivery nurse, respectively. In her spare time, Mrs. Hardie enjoys her four grandchildren, gardening and cooking.

Mrs. Hardie is very proud of the accomplishments of both her students and staff and views her main role as supporting their growth and success.

Christina Thomas, Associate Principal

I have been in education for 28 years. I have taught in a variety of districts from rural eastern Washington to suburban districts including Highline and Lake Washington. I have a MA in special education. I received my administrative certificate from WWU. I was previously an administrator in the Kent School District for the past eight years. I was at Eastlake eight years ago and completed my administrative internship here under Kathy Siddoway and Roni Hardie. I am delighted to be back. I have three children the youngest is a freshman at Oregon State University.

Chris Bede, Assistant Associate Principal

Chris Bede graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in English and Psychology, and then attended Western Washington University for his Masters in Education. He spent seven years teaching Humanities at Skyline High School. During this time he coached soccer and basketball, chaired Site Council and the Humanities Department, and then served as Dean of Students. After returning to Western Washington University for his Residency Principal Certificate, Mr. Bede moved .9 of a mile down 228th to work as Assistant Principal for Eastlake High School.
Mr. Bede married his wife Courtney, a teacher at Skyline, in August 2006. He loves to travel and has spent summers in Europe, Asia, Central and South America. His passions also include sports, books and outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing and mountain biking.
He feels fortunate to work at Eastlake, where a dedicated staff values each individual student and works to develop a rigorous and relevant curriculum that prepares students for the future.

Brent Kawaguchi, Athletic Director

Mr. Kawaguchi has been an educator for 19 years and Eastlake High School's Athletic Director for the past six years. Prior to joining Eastlake, Mr. Kawaguchi taught math and earth science at Mt. Rainier High School in the Highline School District. During that time, he was their Head Football coach, Assistant Wrestling coach, Activities Director and Athletic Director. In 1999 when Mr. Kawaguchi's eldest son, Mitchell, was born, he took a leave from education and coaching for three years to be a stay-at-home dad.

Mr. Kawaguchi received his M.S. in Athletic Administration from Seattle Pacific University and his B.A. in Education from Eastern Washington University.

Mr. Kawaguchi enjoys raising his two sons, Mitchell and Cory, with his wife, Ellen, and in his spare time he enjoys fishing and boating with his family.

Liz Sirjani, Activities Coordinator

Grew up in the Detroit Area.
Graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Math Ed. 1978
Taught in Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, Spokane, EWU, ESU Austin Community College
Earned a MS from EWU in 1985 in computer Education
Have three children
Hate the rain, love the sun and mountains!
Am co-advisor to Mu Alpha Theta(Math National Honor society), Robotics Team
