Here are a few quotes from students:

First Grade:
Ø
I learned that it takes a long time to make a book,
like over a year!
Ø
I learned that they had to go to the library and
check out many, many books. They checked out drawing books and fiction
and nonfiction, too!
Ø
I liked how we learned about how to play the
musical instruments with the “old man face” and buzzing like a brass
instrument.
Ø
I learned that you don’t just write once before you
send it to the printer, so you have to keep writing!
Third Grade:
Ø
I can’t believe that they had to make so many
redraws and changes!
Ø
I liked learning about how they put the book cover
together, first with cardboard and a printed sheet, then folded, glued, and
then added the extra blue or white page with the stinky book glue.
Ø
I didn’t know that there were printers that big!
Ø
I learned that making a book takes lots of hard
work.
Ø
I learned that I can be a writer. It takes
time, effort and patience.
Ø
I liked how they used real objects like leaves and
string and scanned them onto the artwork.
Fifth
Grade:
Ø
It’s
great to know that white pencil can be used over colored pencil for a pastel
look.
Ø
It’s
great to know that we are real writers when we follow the writers’ process:
pre-write, draft, revise, edit, and publish.
Ø
It’s
great to know that a story board is a great way to get the whole idea in mind!
Ø
It’s
great to know that writers read so many books for ideas.
