This site is a collection of activities that constitutes a 0.12 credit in Biology. The ENTIRE package must be completed to earn credit. No partial credit is given. The activities are as follows and are listed in the buttons to the left.
EPIDEMIC ! - Students answer questions that are aligned to the AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY'S 1999 virtual museum exhibit on world epidemics. This is a long activity.
OUTBREAK !- Students watch a 1997 video from THE HISTORY CHANNEL'S "20TH CENTURY WITH MIKE WALLACE" - and answer questions.
IN THE NEWS - Students read a selected article from the New York Times and the Seattle Times, then complete activities related to the articles.
ON THE WEB - Students access and utilize epidemic information on the internet.
RESEARCH - Students conduct a research activity on an epidemic of their choice.
WRITING - Students complete a writing activity on a disease of their choice. Interestingly, the paper is to be written in a formal business letter, letter of recommendation format.
SURVEY - This is an optional activity that gives me feedback.
