it is time to begin the process for creating classes for next year. The
process we use at Thoreau starts in May and will finish in late August when
lists are posted just before school begins again. Starting May 9, parent
input forms will be available. These forms give parents an opportunity to give
us important information to consider during the placement process. The forms
are available in the office. Mrs. Freni will have them at her desk. All forms
need to be completed and returned to the office by May 26. In early June, I
will be meeting with grade levels to create initial classes for next year,
taking into consideration parent input forms, gender balance, academic needs
and behavior concerns. In early August, these lists are reviewed again by
grade levels. Changes do occur do to enrollment changes over the summer.
Final review of class lists occurs the last week in August. LAKE

child needs a second MMR to enter 6th grade. As soon as your child receives this
immunization, please call Sally or Geri, 425 823-4350, and give them the date
so it can be added to your child’s records. The district mandates that your
child not be placed on a class list until we have a date showing he/she is in
compliance with state required immunizations. NORTHSTAR JR. HIGH GARAGE

website for the latest information! KUDOS Thank you to Jet City Pizza in Kenmore
for donating 10 pizzas to our Chess reception this week! PLAYGROUND UPDATE Thank you to all the families supporting our additional
playground adventure! We have about $1,760.00 in our playground fund so
far. We will allocate the Carnival profits into this account also.
We have applied for the $15,000.00 King County grant and will know in
November the results. We can do it if we all work together! Any comments,
please contact Valerie Quinn at 425 398-7239 or Polly Blanchard at 425 820-8909. We have sold 26 tiles so far!
It is sooo cool to see the paper tiles go up across from the gym. The
children are going to love seeing their names on these tiles for years to
come! The "early bird special" of $45.00 for a 6x6 tile ends
June 1st. After that it will be $50.00. Please share this with grandparents,
employers, and other connections you may have that might be interested.
This is a 70% profit for us, and creates a lasting memory! Questions, contact
Valerie Quinn at 425 398-7239 or Polly Blanchard 425 820-8909. BOOK ADVENTURE PRIZE
GIVE-AWAYS Our Book Adventure program is off to a great start! We have already had two prize giveaways and have been impressed with the number of students who have read enough books to earn gold coins. Due to Spring Break and other circumstances, this month’s prize give-away was postponed until Friday, April 29. Students have one more week to read books and take quizzes on line at bookadventure.com and/or fill out the book forms. Keep up the great work!! If you have any questions about the program, please contact John Turnbull or Karen Ulbrickson through the Thoreau office, 425 823-4350. CARTRIDGES FOR
