Below is some of our student's writing about King Birtram from the "King's Stilts"

Lauren

The fabulous King Birtram was a great king. The nice king worked awfully hard everyday. The P.C.s or patrol cats are the animals that protect the trees that protect the town. The King feeds the P.C’s fish. King Birtram works faster then other kings. He works for 2 hours then other king’s work for a month. King Birtram played like a kid. He played on through the town on his red flashing stilts. He played with his great page boy named Eric. Last of all, King Birtram was a busy king.

The almighty King Birtram was an excellent king. When he worked he really worked. He did more work in a day than some kings did in a month. He fed P.C. good meals so they could chase away the Nizzards. When he played he really played. He had red flashy stilts. He raced around the palace in them. Certainly, this king is fun.

Edward

The almighty King Birtram was a magnificent king. First, the cheerful king worked awfully hard all day. He took care of his patrol cats, the kingdom, and his people. He signed important documents. Next, the intelligent king played at break times. King Birtram had a page boy Eric. The king had stilts, he told the carpenter to make stilts for Eric. Together Eric followed King Birtram through the kingdom. King Birtram went everywhere. So far, King Birtram is the best king I’ve ever heard about.

The almighty King Birtram was an extraordinary king in Binn. First, he worked awfully hard taking care of his people in the time he had. King Birtram also signed important documents in the morning. He liked doing those things in the bathtub and eating breakfast. He did two hours more work than other kings did in a month. King Birtram took care of his important patrol cats to scare the incredible Nizzards away. Next, King Birtram played really hard with his royal stilts. He rode on his stilts to the crowded town and the town’s people saw him. Eric followed the old king through the fancy palace. King Birtram walked with his stilts through the beautiful garden. Clearly, King Birtram was a most outstanding king.

He also had the task of tending to the 1,000 patrol cats. Afterwards, King Birtram always had time to play, and he played hard. He and his page boy Eric raced to the royal closet. The king loved to gallop with his red flashy stilts. Clearly, King Birtram, whether working or playing was a most outstanding king.

The fabulous King Birtram was an excellent king. He worked very hard with the time he had. King Birtram took care of the P.C.’s who were then suppose to scare the Nizzards. King Birtram could do more work in two hours then most kings could do in a month. The stilt riding king signed important documents of state in the bathtub. He played very hard like a kid. The bearded king had red flashy stilts that he kept in the royal stilt closet. Eric followed the king through the palace as he raced on his stilts. Last, King Birtram was the most noble hard working king.

The super cheerful King Birtram of Binn was a wonderful king. First, he worked really hard to take care of his people. He also had to take care of P.C.s that stands for patrol cats. That kept the Nizzards away from the dike trees. The dike trees were a type of tree that kept the ocean out of the town. Then, he played hard, too. He had red flashy stilts, he played with them. He ran up and down the palace, his page boy Eric ran with him. Certainly, King Birtram was a most wonderful king.

Emily

The almighty King Birtram was an intelligent king. First, King Birtram worked awfully hard for his people with the time he had. All the work he did in two hours would be as much work most kings would do in a month. He also had to brush the P.C. and straighten their whiskers as well. He liked to feed them fish. Afterwards, he acts like a child once he gets on his shiny red stilts. He ran across the hall with amazing speed, with Eric running right beside him. The town’s people said “well he really worked, so he can really play”. Clearly, King Birtram, whether working or playing was a most outstanding king.

Andrew

The magnificent King Birtram is and excellent king. Next, when he worked he worked very hard. He is very busy signing papers. He takes lots of care of the P.C.s. Finally, when he plays he really plays like crazy. Every time his work is done he plays with his stilts. Eric always runs aside him when he goes out on his stilts. King Birtram is a king of amazing work and play.
