MARCH| APRIL | MAY | EXTRA | Wavra Word | JUNE | EXTRA II
April has raced away and May is right at our heels. The weather outside is so beautiful, I can’t remember the last time I saw so much blue in the sky. As a concern the students and I are beginning to feel the affects of this early summer. Let’s be smart and keep those fluids in us so that we can perform to the best of our ability. If you have not already done so you can always send a water bottle with your child and they can keep it on their desk.
I have changed AM a little bit. I will no longer be sending it home with the kids to be corrected. They will be doing this in class. I feel that it gives them immediate feed back with the things they are getting wrong. If they send it home they may miss subsequent questions on a later practice or test. This will insure that they understand the theory before moving on. However I will still send it home after it has been corrected so that you as parents can see their progress.
We are trying to keep the picture page updated as best as we can. We will be updating the picture page once a week so that it doesn’t take up a lot of my time, most likely Friday. There is now, posted, our Claude Monet drawings and writing. All of the kids did a fabulous job. Please, if you have any input on the site, or things you would like to see please feel free to email me. (scornwall@lkwash.wednet.edu)
In May we will be starting our ocean unit. Be ready to get wet!! We will be doing a wide variety of things, ranging from plants of the sea - to dangers of the ocean. We have some get stuff about sharks, but don’t worry Jaws scares me too much. For math we will be moving into probability and of course continue to work on our fractions and reviewing the past. We will be preparing for the second grade writing prompt. This will be coming up soon so we will be well prepared to write a fabulous story, one with a beginning, middle, and an end. Please check out the “calendar” & “news” link on the web site for any other announcements. --Mr. Cornwall
