MARCH| APRIL | MAY | EXTRA | Wavra Word | JUNE | EXTRA II
June is upon us, and the children know it! They are fighting to the very end. But at the same time I have never been told how many days until school is out before. They make me laugh! I thought kids only did that with holidays and birthdays. They are excited for the summer, but to my surprise and great pleasure they are still working hard and pressing forward. Remember to keep them hydrated and feed so that they can perform to the best of their ability.
We are coming down to the last of this years’ AM and AR. The final testing date is set for the 14th of June. So that means that any parent that comes in to help for those times is off the hook. Your child is doing great in all of theses areas. After the newly borrowed library books there had been a surge of reading going on in our classroom. I hope that it is like that at home for you. Let your child know that they are doing it just right; they should even continue to read into the summer break, in preparation for the 3rd grade.
I hope that the class website has been a blessing and not a hindrance to both you and your child. I tried to get what I thought appropriate and useful on there for you to view. I would really love your input on the web, with anything I might add or change to better help you as parents and you students. Please email your comments to: (scornwall@lkwash.wednet.edu)
In May I had originally planned that we would be starting our ocean unit. We ended up working on some story prompts and story writing that was to prepare them for a second grade writing prompt. Now here in June be ready to get wet!! We will be doing a wide variety of things, ranging from plants of the sea - to dangers of the ocean. We have some great stuff about sharks, but don’t worry Jaws scares me too much, so none of him. For math we will be working on our geometry, money and of course reviewing the past. Please remember that field day is coming up on June 9, it is going to be a lot of fun. Please check out the “calendar” & “news” link on the web site for any other announcements. --Mr. Cornwall
