Hello Rockwell families. As a Special Needs Liaison, I coordinate information from the PTA board, school staff, district, and parents.
What does “Special Needs” mean? Usually, this means any child who is on an Individualized Education Plan- IEP (includes 504 accommodations). Even though needs can vary greatly, usually the term encompasses students receiving special education services.
It is important to look around and find ways of supporting the participation of students with special needs in all PTA sponsored activities. I also try to inform parents of monthly District Special Needs Meetings, relay important District information, and look at ways the diversity of special needs can enrich our school.
Redmond Learning Community Special Needs Coffee Time!
April 16th, 10am-11am at Tully's Bella Botega and also from 7pm-8pm same day
and place for those that work during the day or have other commitments.
Come
network with others in your learning community. Now is a great time to
learn from the "pro's" (other parents that have been there) about
transitions to Kindergarten, Jr. High and High School. What has worked for
you? What hasn't? What bits of wisdom do you have to share with others?
Questions? Please call or e-mail me.
