Wild Wonderful Weather!
Semester 1 07-08
|
Your local news station is celebrating the grand opening of its new weather station. As a part of the grand opening ceremonies, the station manager has invited you to perform a dance that you will create alone around the theme, “Wild Wonderful Weather!” In order to perform your solo dance for the grand opening, the station manager requires you to complete the following task.
The station manager would like a dance about two contrasting types of weather. Use the station manager’s guidelines to create your dance. As part of this public performance, your dance must be performed without interruptions. |
The station manager explains that you must meet the following requirements when you
create your dance choreography:
• choose two contrasting types of weather (rain, snow, wind, hurricane, sunny, or any
other type of weather you might choose)
• decide which type of weather you will show with locomotor movement (movement
that travels through space—skip, crawl, leap, or a different locomotor movement) and
which you will show with non-locomotor movement (movement that stays in your
own space—twist, stretch, swing, or a different non-locomotor movement)
• create one movement sequence that is about 10 seconds in length for each type of
weather:
• one that is locomotor
• one that is non-locomotor
• put the two movement sequences you created together in ABA form, so that your
dance is about 30 seconds long
• include a clear beginning and a clear ending.
The station manager explains that you must meet the following requirement when you
perform your dance choreography:
• perform your dance without interruptions.
The station manager requires you to respond about your dance. In your response, you must:
• describe in detail the two types of weather you chose and how you expressed them
through your dance
• use dance vocabulary correctly; make sure to address all dance vocabulary we have talked about (energy/force, time, and space)
