Color Value Sample Worksheet

The steps below have been done in a very similar fashion to the still life in the previous lesson.
See if you can identify the stages.

 

 


Work lightly with your tints - you should be delivering color not drawing - work from edge to edge - your pencil strokes should follow the shape of the subject



Establish a light source - it can be anywhere but it needs to remain constant - include cast shadows - work from shape edges - be sure to make transitions



Try mixing your analogous colors before adding them to your page - analogous colors add depth and warmth to your work. The sample above is not yet complete - try your own sample using any two sets of complements - when your work is finished the shape outlines should no longer be obvious - contrast is greatest next to an edge.
