Complementary and
Analogous Color

Transitioning
Saturations

Complementary color blending
Transition values from light to dark

Developing a transitional edge
using the dominant complement,
we used red

Work from shape edge with the
subordinate complement, in
this case green, to develop
a darker value

Add the subordinate complement
(green) to continue to develop
the darker value transition

Complement blend
to organic edge

Blending analogous colors on top
of the basic complementary
value shift to add visual
variety and movement

In this example we also used a green
and red complimentary color scheme
but this time the green is dominant

In this sample the dominant color
is orange and the analogous
colors are yellow and red
