Types of Line
Organizational
Line: provide the framework for a drawing. The framework can be
compared to the armature upon which sculptors mold clay or the floor
plan upon which a home is built. This line is sometimes called directional
or diagrammatic.
Albero Giacometi makes use of organizational line in his drawing Still
Life, the lines are not confined by the limits of the objects. They
extend into space, define and help relate the background shapes to the
objects. In most drawings the organizational lines are not readily apparent;
Giacometti, however, not only uses them to organize his drawings, but
allows them to remain as a part of the total visual statement.
