Note
to Class of 2009 – Summer Work on Culminating Project
You may
go ahead and begin work on your Culminating Project as soon as your Junior
English teacher approves it. If you wish to begin work over the summer,
please read the following information carefully so that you can make the
best use of your time are not caught by surprise next fall:
-
Students should understand that while it is possible to get a solid
start over the summer, students are not “done” with the project when
they return in September. This is the same policy as last year.
- We
will be using Web Grader to manage the project next year. Over the
summer, the Culminating Project Coordinators will be setting this up.
Therefore, not all the materials are available for you yet.
-
Students who wish to work on the project over the summer
should independently log all the hours they work, with paragraph
descriptions of what they did and another, separate paragraph detailing
what they learned from that “doing”. Hours
should be logged in chunks of no more than 5 hours at a stretch.
Advisory teachers will be meeting with students early in the 2008-09 school
year to add detail to the proposals and modify the timelines as necessary.
We know that things change over the summer, and you’ll have a chance to work
with your Advisory teacher to make sure your project will be a success.
