The Family Learning Center Program
Our High School program for 9-12 grade
students offers a series of core classes including Math, English,
History, Science, and Foreign Language. All seniors enrolled in
the Family Learning Center wanting a LWSD diploma must meet the
graduation requirements set by the District including completion
of a culminating project.
Students in Kindergarten are required on site at least 2.5 hours a
week of supervised instruction and the completion of additional
hours of instruction at home. Full time students in grades 1-12
are required on site for a minimum of 5 hours a week of supervised
instruction and the completion of additional hours of instruction
at home. This program operates as an Alternative School under WAC
392-121-182. We enroll some students on a part time basis.
Students are enrolled in a Lake Washington School District
alternative program, not home schooling under Washington’s Home
Based Instruction law. A Student Learning Plan is completed for
each student enrolled in the Family Learning Center. The plans are
developed with the supervision of a certified teacher using the
Lake Washington School District Curriculum Frameworks. These plans
are monitored on a monthly basis to insure that students are
making adequate progress towards their learning goals and
objectives. Plans are revised as needed to ensure student
progress.
A mandatory meeting is scheduled in September of each year to
further clarify the policies and procedures that govern our
school. We look forward to seeing you at one of these meetings.
Our staff is always available to answer your questions. We want
you to fully understand our school and its requirements.
Family Learning Center continues to be a successful and enjoyable
learning environment for staff, parents and students.
