Third Grade

Number and Numeration

·         Terms that may be used:  “about how many”, addition, altogether, =, amount, “closer to”, difference, digit, division, equation ,estimate, even,  fewer than, fewest, greater than, greatest, hundreds, in order, least, less than, more than, most, multiplication, number, number line, odd, ones, operation, place value, round “to the nearest”,  subtraction, sum, tens, thousands, total, whole number

Geometric Sense

·         Terms that may be used with definitions or examples:  compare (tell how they are alike and how they are different), congruent (same size and same shape), figure (a closed shape), location, parallelogram - use a picture

-        Reflection (flip):  the mirror image of a figure on the opposite side of a line.

-        Rotation (turn):  the image of a figure moved through an angle around a point.

·         Terms that may be used with definitions or examples:  compare (tell how they are alike and how they are different), parallelogram, quadrilateral, translation (slide), reflection (flip), vertex/vertices

·         Terms that will not be used:  coordinate, plane figure
