Earthquakes are
unpredictable, yet are predicted. Fires are preventable, yet they happen.
Rain and snow are typical of this region, yet they can make a school day
atypical. No matter how safe we think we are, we are completely vulnerable
to outside forces.
These forces may shut down the school while students are at home. They may
also strike while students are in class and make returning home difficult.
The staff at BEST High School strives to be prepared for any event that may
harm students or might require actions taken beyond that of the normal school
activities. Planning, leadership, training, communication, preparation,
proper equipment, and procedures are not things that you want to neglect until
needed.
In light of September 11, 2001, we know that our students, parents, and staff
are more concerned than ever with issues of safety and security. To
support our 'family' this committee meets every Friday (with some exceptions) to
prepare training activities, identify and correct safety problems, and review
procedures.
