Artist Assignment

The final product from this assignment will be a display board or a power point presentation.

Select a portrait from the artist portrait cards. (E-mail me if you forget and need one.)

Locate the artists name on the card, use the name to look up the artist and learn about the artist and the art produced. Use the internet or the public library for resources.

Look for and include the following:

-   What time period did the artist produce art?

-   What was going on in the world at the time the artist created the art.

-         Did the events of the time influence the art in any way? What type of art did the artist create: style, subject matter, media, etc.

-         Include any background information about the artist that best describes who he/she was and the art created.

-         Select 2 to 3 art works by the artist that you find interesting and include them on the display board.

-         Make sure to include art that is descriptive and portrays the style, of art or contribution the artist made in the art world.

 

 

-   What type of personality traits did the artist have?

-    What personality traits do you have in common with the artist?

-         How did the artist traits influence the art?

-         How do your traits in common with the artist influence your art.

Analyze one of the Art works made by the artist – Use the aesthetic scanning guidelines to analyze the art. Place the art work and your analysis next to each other.

Make a small sketch or drawing of one of the artist works that you like. Place your interpretation of the art next to a copy of the art. You can use calendars, computer prints or color zerox copies for the art in your display.

What do you feel is the most significant contribution the artist is known for? Use the information to title your display and introduction.

Briefly describe the artist portrait card and why you chose it.

You can describe the location, lighting, angle, posing, etc. After learning about the artist would you say the portrait does a good job in portraying the artist? Describe?

The display board should include: Title and introduction, the portrait poster card, 2-3 art works of the artist, aesthetic scanning of one art work, your own drawing/painting of one of the art works and answers to all of the questions above
