bulletWhen the student is not meeting IEP objectives, the building level team meets. A specialist on the team  initiates  trial use of assistive technology. 
bulletIf the student demonstrates improved performance using the assistive technology during the trial period:
bulletThe SAS process is initiated. Include building level findings, recommendations, and current IEP.
bulletThe A.T. team reviews the building level findings and recommendations.
bullet If the trial has been unsuccessful or marginally successful: 
bullet A SAS request for an A.T. team evaluation will be initiated.

Students that present with complex  A.T. needs may forfeit the trial period and move directly to a SAS for an A.T. team evaluation. 

The following specialists are prepared to initiate a trial use of assistive technology:

Writing/Reading: Special Education Teacher Specialized software is available on a computer in the resource room of each building.
Motor: Occupational and Physical Therapist Request Motor Resource Kit from Willows Special Services, Assistive Technology
Communication/Language: Speech Language Pathologist Request Communication Resource Kit from Willows Special Services, Assistive Technology
