The LWSD
Virtual Education System (VED) is an
online multi-component assessment tool.
Elementary teachers currently use the
system for completing the online report
card, while high school teachers use the
system to assess and manage Level 5
Graduation Requirements. The system
also allows teachers and administrators
to view and compile reports of student
performance on state and district
assessments, such as WASL, ITBS, and
ARI. Analyzing current data about
classroom, students and school allows
for real-time decision making.
EdProps
EdProps is
an online Project management tool
specifically designed to assist high
school students in managing culminating
projects. Developed in conjunction with
LWSD staff and teachers, EdProps allows
schools to create online assignments,
milestones, and shedules surrounding a
culminating project. When student turn
in components online, assessing teachers
are alerted via email. Teachers can
then review student work and provide
feedback and assessment online. Parents
can also be included in the adjudication
loop. Edprops is an excellent tool for
helping students manage major projects,
while saving teacher time by making the
job of teacher management and assessment
quicker and more efficient.

Turnitin.com
is a web based application that allows
secondary teachers to evaluate the
originality of student work. The system
instantly identifies papers containing
unoriginal material and therefore acts as a
powerful deterrent to stop student
plagiarism before it starts.
